Directions from Athlone bypass - N6
Take the Athlone Bypass (N6) Galway direction. Take the fourth exit off
the bypass, for Roscommon (N61). As you come off the slip road take a
right turn (Town Centre Direction). Follow the road for approx 1 minute
until you come to a large Service Station on the right (Mulligans/Londis).
Villa St John is located to the left of this station with private car
parking for guests to the front and rear of the house. |

Villa St John is a spacious family run Bed & Breakfast located in Athlone in
the centre of Ireland. Proprietors Maura & John Duggan offer a quality
accommodation experience in this well established B&B. The house is located
just 2km from Athlone town centre and the River Shannon on the main
Roscommon road (N61).
A supermarket is situated next door with petrol pumps and an ATM machine.
Private secure parking is offered at the rear of the house. Guests are
within a walking distance of two local pubs that provide live entertainment
at the weekends. Its is an ideal B&B to stay in Athlone for business, golf,
shopping and weekend breaks.
Athlone is renowned for its location on the banks of the Shannon which flows
through the town centre. In the early thirteenth century the Anglo-Normans
built a stone Castle to guard the strategic river crossing to the west of
Ireland. Lough Ree just north of the town is one of the largest lakes on the
Shannon and provides the perfect location for water activities such as
angling, cruising, water skiing, wind surfing, sailing and regattas.
Athlone is an ideal spot as a base for touring the whole country or stopping
off for a night or two to break the Journey. There are lots of amenities
locally which include golfing, fishing, Athlone Castle visitors centre, Bog
Rail Tour, Clonmacnois - ancient monastic site.
